Religious School The Beth Chaverim Religious School (students in pre K-12th grade) strives to create a learning environment for our students that promotes a positive Jewish identity. Our Judaic Studies program is a comprehensive introduction to a lifetime of Jewish learning. We study the Torah and Bible, our Jewish identity, Israel, Jewish Holidays, the synagogue, God, life cycle and Jewish ethics. Students are challenged to understand and apply Jewish concepts in their lives and in their community. Our Hebrew Studies program is designed to develop students' abilities to read, translate, and write Hebrew and supports them in their understanding of the Torah and in preparations for becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We also feature a strong music curriculum designed to teach the students the hymns, melodies, and prayers heard in worship services. We strive to treat each student as an individual to guarantee the best education for his or her needs. Our Religious School promotes creative, dynamic, and interactive classroom lessons to keep our young students involved and focused. Traditional textbooks as well as guest speakers and field trips support the classroom study.
The Beth Chaverim 3rd grade class, 2009
This year, each Religious School class will take part in at least one Friday night service. The first one will take place in the first half of the year and is intended as a meet and greet for the families of that class. The students may participate in the service by singing a song. In the second half of the year, each class may have a class dinner before the service and then participate in the actual service. This is intended again as a social means for the students to get to know the other families in their class, but also as a way to show the families what their children have been learning at Religious School. Pre-K - 3rd grade Class Onegs & Services will take place as part of the Youth Service starting at 6:30 pm and 4th - 10th grade Class Onegs & Services will take part of the traditional Shabbat Services starting at 7:30 pm (Oneg & Services 2009-10 schedule).
To register please use the Religious School Registration Form.
