Active Threat Training

Thursday, October 24, 2019 25 Tishrei 5780

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

BCRC, in consultation with the Jewish Federation and Secure Community Network, is embarked on instituting a holistic Security Roadmap which will include improved physical security, organizational planning, crisis and event security plans and procedures, and training, for both our staff and for the entire congregation.

Active Threat Training is the most essential element of this training. Since the year 2000, there have been 316 active attacks in the U.S., and in over 90% of the attacks the primary weapon was a firearm. Successfully responding to an active threat requires more than security equipment and written plans. It requires every individual to know their role, to be able to anticipate and recognize an active shooter/threat situation and respond appropriately and immediately.

We are pleased to announce that BCRC will be providing Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training at the temple Thurs Oct 24, 7-9 PM. Mark Jardina, Director of the Secure Community Network’s (SCN) Regional Security Program, will join us to provide the training.

What is this training? The SCN has adapted the FBI’s gold standard active shooter response training specifically for civilians at Jewish religious organizations. The training provides an easy to retain and recall model which will enable you to take care of yourself and your loved ones in the event of an active threat emergency – to buy the minutes necessary to live during the 3-8 minutes, on average, before law enforcement response.

Please RSVP below. We are looking to have high participation so that BCRC is well prepared in the event of any active threat. Please plan to attend – if all members of your family cannot attend please send at least one adult family member.
