Torah Restoration Event
Sunday, June 4, 2017 • 10 Sivan 5777
9:30 AM - 1:00 PMBCRCOn June 4th during Sunday school hours, we will celebrate the latest BCRC Torah Restoration Project. Rabbi Ayson Englander will visit us from Baltimore to share his knowledge as scribe as well as his recent assessment of two of our Torah scrolls. Come and learn about the art, craft, and history of sofrut.
In addition, for those who sign up early you will get an opportunity to participate in a hands-on letter inscribing session involving our smaller Holocaust Era Torah. The event starts at 9:30 am in the sanctuary with a half-hour presentation from Rabbi Englander to be followed by letter inscribing sessions in the Library. The 20 minute inscribing sessions are limited to small groups of ten participants (10 years and older) for a personalized experience that will enhance our scroll’s symbolic connection from generation-to-generation.
Please sign up below in advance for one of the four inscribing sessions or for an 11 am session in the Library to see Rabbi Englander give a demonstration on parchment panel stitching. You may also take this opportunity to support our BCRC Torah Restoration Celebration and the ongoing upkeep of our Torahs through donations toward the event.
