Summary |
In 2004, BCRC received a large, anonymous donation to support interfaith cooperation in Loudoun County, known as the Tikva (Hope) Fund. The Tikva Committee is proud to announce the recent awarding of the following grants which will benefit Loudoun County Public School children:
Loudoun Interfaith Bridges and member congregations and Tikva funds provided $20,000 in grant support to 18 multicultural school-based programs in the Loudoun County Public Schools from 2012 - 2015. These programs included classroom instruction, after school programs, and events for local communities, and have reached thousands of K-12 students. As our County faces new challenges in building a strong, diverse and unified community, the Tikva Committee provided additional funding for the 2017-18 school year for LCPS Multicultural Grants. The Tikva Committee approved a grant to support this year's Loudoun International Youth Leadership Summit. In its first year, Dominion High School students hosted students from China, Germany, Lebanon, Singapore, South Africa, and South Korea and Park View High School welcomed students from Costa Rica in the Loudoun International Youth Leadership Summit. The summit engaged many different clubs and classes in both schools, exploring cultural differences as well as various perspectives on important world issues. This successful program expanded with other public and private support; six LCPS High Schools participated in 2017 and hosted 100 international students from 22 countries. The BCRC Tikva Committee continues to work to sponsor programs that promote interfaith understanding and dialogue in our community and provides grant to organizations that further this purpose. Announcing Sanctuary & Social Renewal Sprint 2
Our goal is to raise $50,000 by June 30 to build a spiritual Jerusalem stone wall backdrop integrated with the bimah, with recessed lighting and built-in space for a permanent ark.We plan to have the sanctuary construction done during the summer so that we can be ready for the High Holy Days. We thank everyone who has donated to our earlier phase.
Above you can see a rendering of these exciting plans (place holders for ark and furniture). Along with the movable wall and new seating these changes will begin to give our sanctuary the feel of a permanent worship space. Click here to read full details on the project.
