Virtual Community Passover Seder
Saturday, April 11, 2020 • 17 Nisan 5780
6:00 PM - 9:00 PMShalom!
From our table to yours... even remotely, we can come together for a soulful gathering to celebrate freedom and the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt. Saturday, April 11th, at 6pm, join us for a remote Community Passover Seder led by Rabbi Amy Sapowith and Cantorial Soloist Rachel Gomberg.
Prior to the Seder, you will likely be preparing food items for your Seder plate and for your dinner. For the fun of it and as a way to identify yourselves when we appear on our screens, we’re encouraging each family to decorate a single piece of matzah--the matzah is your canvas! You can decorate it with food items or non-food items you have in your house, understanding that matzah is fragile. Make it a family seal, a greeting card, an emoji, let your creativity guide you! We will have time for participants to share their decorated matzah with the community as we greet one another at our virtual community tables. This is not a requirement, but an idea just for fun!
You can RSVP to our seder in the form below.
Please indicate if you would be willing to participate by doing a reading. We will try to notify you in advance with your reading section if time allows otherwise you’ll be called on during the seder at some point.
To join: you will need a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
-
We will email you the link to join our Seder via the Zoom application.
-
We will email you links to a printable Haggadah and to a Seder Supplement.
-
We will send instructions on how to use Zoom
We look forward to coming together as a community in these times of social distancing, and we hope you will join us!

UAA Questionnaire to Candidates
United Against Antisemitism (UAA), a grass roots organization based in the Washington D.C. area, created a questionnaire on how candidates seeking to run in our Congressional District, and for the US Senate seat for Virginia would respond to the rise of antisemitism we are witnessing.
This is a non-partisan effort, and the questionnaire was sent to all candidates (Democrats and Republicans) running in the primaries for the 10th Congressional District, the seat currently held by Jennifer Wexton who is not running for re-election. Please click here to read full information and to see the responses.
